Hurricane Katrina
I am sure by now you have been flooded with the news and requests for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region.
Although the US government is working on committing billions of dollars to the relief, there is still a strong need to still provide support thru a donation to an organization, or donating items, or donating time, or providing another resource.
There are a number of organizations that are helping out with the relief. If you can make a donation to the organziation of your choice.
Some of the organziations involved in the relief effort are:
American Red Cross (www.redcross.org)
The Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org)
American's Second Harvest (www.secondharvest.org)
ASPCA (www.aspca.org - animals also affected by the disaster)
Even if you can or can not make a donation, there is also a need to donate items as well and provide other resources as well. Please also check your local news sources for any activities that you can do in your local community. Check you local radio, newspapers, and web sites for anything you can do locally.
Additional information about donating your money, items, resources, or time can be found on many of the news sites and also on goverment sites such as http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov/.
This is an opportunity for all of us to provide the needed support for the victims of one of America's greatest natural disasters. If there is anything you can do to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, please do so. There are hundreds of thousands of people thru many cities and towns in the Gulf Coast who need the support.
